We specialize in rushes, sedges, grasses, and forbs. High
elevation species (<5,000 feet) sometimes have peculiar stratification
or testing requirements that we can determine what they are and report to
you. Our cold stratification tests last until either the seeds germinate
or up to 113 days.
TERMS OF BUSINESS:
PRICE: $35. per seed sample, and that includes your report. All order must
be prepaid , unless you are from a U.S. government agency; then you
can send us a requisition (if you are paying from a draft) or a purchase
order.
Seeds for testing must be well-cleaned, winnowed to remove hollow seeds
(in the wind or with a fan) and a minimum of two tablespoons for large seeds
like grasses, Apiaceae, Asteraceae, Fabaceae, etc. Very small seeds
that will pass through window-screen sized mesh like most Scrophulariaceae
then 1/2 teaspoon is sufficient.
Manila sample envelopes with data labels are $1 each including postage,
and are recommended to send your seed sample in. Order as many envelopes
as you will be sending samples. Otherwise, put your seed in a manila envelope
labeled with the following information:
Botanical name of the species, elevation, annual precipitation, Township/range/section,
and any unusual soil or habitat information.
This data helps us determine what seed treatments may be required to induce
germination.
Seed sent for testing becomes the property of Craig C. Dremann and The
Reveg Edge, and any seed not used in testing will be kept as reference
samples, for genetic testing, or growing trials.
Our service is for land managers, restoration practitioners, and researchers.
We do not test seeds for commercial seed collectors, growers, or the seed
industry. Tests are conducted for seed that will not be sold, and test
results are not for state or federal legal labeling requirements.
