Terms of Sale:

COMMERCIAL ORGANIC FARMERS: We certify that as far as we know, ALL of the SEEDS listed on our website and printed catalog are open pollinated and untreated, with no hybrids or GMO seeds offered herein.

As is the custom in the seed trade, we warrant to the extent of the purchase price that seeds sold are as described on the container, within recognized tolerances. We give no other or further warranty, expressed or implied.

Our replacement policy on all sales is as follows: We will be pleased to replace any seeds which fail to germinate, providing that you contact us for a replacement within 90 days from the time you received the item from us.

We will replace any sweetgrass plants that fail to thrive, within one year of purchase.

>>>If you are having any problems with seeds (especially unusual pepper seeds) or sweetgrass plants, contact us by phone immediately so we can help solve the problem. In some cases, the soil temperature may be too low for germination of some of the rare peppers--soil temp. has to be 80-85 degrees F., which can be lower than the air temp. Or if peat pots/peat pellets, or potting soils with a lot of peat moss in it, were used, that can severely inhibit germination.<<<
American Express DiscoverMastercardVisa customers, call in your order, if $25 or more (650) 325-7333.

There is a $25 minimum per credit card order. Because seeds and plant materials are perishable commodities, all credit card sales will be under a no-refund/no-charge-back policy, but the above replacement policy will still apply. The placing of an order with us constitutes acceptance of the above-mentioned terms and conditions by the purchaser.

The Three Manzanos or Rocoto fruit colors: Orange, Red and Yellow. Yellow is the hottest and the red is the most prolific.

Manzano or Rocoto plants, if protected from cold nights (kept >50°F.), can grow into huge grape-like vines, up to 15 feet long that can be trellised, and in their third year produce annually 500-1,000 pounds of fruit per plant! -- Shown above, a SINGLE eight year old, untrellised red manzano plant, and look for the red fruit on the plant for scale. SCOTCH BONNETS Fruit all life-sized
Haitian Scotch Bonnet Scotch Bonnet
........Big Sun.............Haiti Red...............Tobago Red

Scotch Bonnet plants are a minimum of 3 feet tall and 4 feet across, which translates to about 3,000 plants per acre. However, by the regular feeding of bone meal and liquid fish fertilizers every 3-4 weeks, plants can grow to 6-8 feet tall. Time from planting seed to ripe fruit is about 8 months. If plants are kept at night above 60 degrees F. in a greenhouse or grown in Hawaii or in the Caribbean, they can produce for 20-30 years.

Yield per plant, should be at least three pounds of fruit over a 3-4 week period, but if fertilized every 3-4 weeks during the growing season, then 10 pounds per plant is possible from the six foot tall plants. In the tropics, plants should continue to flower after the first fruit set, and produce for several years until plants need to be replaced.

Calcium is absolutely essential for both Scotch Bonnets, Habaneros, Ghost peppers and Trinidad Scorpion plants, in large amounts added once a month. Plants will stop growing, or fail to produce any crop to only a very small crop of fruit if not adequately fertilized.

Calcium deficiency shows up first as wrinkled leaves, especially the younger leaves and in-between the leaf veins. We use bone meal to cure calcium deficiencies, and you will need to keep adding the bone meal whenever you see leaf-wrinkling in these peppers. Other sources of calcium is powdered limestone or calcium nitrate.

Pepper needs bonemeal Habanero needs bonemeal

Wrinkled leaves in peppers shows the need for bone meal. By applying only one dose to the plant above, caused the leaves to flatten out, and the plant grew one foot in two weeks. By feeding your peppers bone meal that is dug into the top inch of soil, and liquid fish (one cup diluted in a gallon watering can) applied every 3-4 weeks, you should be able to grow Christmas-tree sized plants 6-7 feet tall.

A fertilizer rule of thumb for your Ghost peppers, Trinidad Scorpions, Scotch Bonnets or Habanero plants are not five feet tall by August 15, you did not fertilize those plants often enough that year.
